APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

PERFORMANCE

Liquid Ceramic® Exterior Wall Coat is a high-performance architectural coating with a proven history of lasting on homes and buildings for over 25 years without the need for a repaint. It is made from 100% acrylic resins and is low in volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Categorized as professional grade, this water-based high technology formulation coating is designed to protect against wind-driven rain and to weatherproof concrete, masonry, concrete block, brick and stucco surfaces. Ceramic microsphere technology and high solids content will provide you with the most durable and long-lasting coating for protecting the outside of your home or building. Its elastomeric qualities allow for a certain amount of elongation not commonly found in regular exterior paint. Cracking, peeling, flaking are never issues when applied properly in a two-coat process at the correct wet film thickness.

SURFACE PREPARATION

Preparing the surface of your project is highly important and will have much bearing on the longevity of your paint job. Painting over dead paint will certainly influence the performance of your Liquid Ceramic® coating. Therefore, think of the surface as having to be “clean, dry and sound”. “Clean” means there’s no dirt, grime, grease or rust on the surface. Spray wash with a moderate water pressure. “Dry” means the substrate needs to be under 12% on a moisture meter. Using your hand to determine this is impossible, so you must use a moisture meter. Check in several areas, e.g., lower boards or areas, areas behind shrubbery, shaded areas with less sunlight, etc. Never apply our product to any surface with a moisture level above 12%. “Sound” means there’s no presence of rotten wood, loose substrate, dead paint (paint that can easily be scraped off), etc.
1. Clean Up: Remove all surface contaminants, peeling paint, heavy chalk, efflorescence, laitance, concrete dust, by washing or pressure washing with an appropriate cleaner, rinse thoroughly and allow to dry.
2. Repairs:
All cracks to be repaired using a generic crack filler.
3. New Concrete: Remove all form release and curing agents and apply a High pH Primer.
4. Chalky Surfaces: After pressure washing surface apply the Liquid Ceramic Brand Z Best™ Acrylic White Primer / Sealer.

RECOMMENDED PAINT SYSTEMS

New Surfaces: Allow a minimum of three (3) days of cure time for new masonry or hot stucco, a seven (7) day cure time for poured in place concrete or a safe pH level below 8.5 prior to application of product. Coatings have a greater resistance against failure when applied to a surface with a lower alkaline level (below 8.S). Clean substrate to remove all form and release agents, dirt, dust, grease and any foreign contaminants. High pH (between 9 and 13) should be primed with Liquid Ceramic Brand Z Best™ AcrylicWhite Primer / Sealer.

Previously Coated Surfaces: SURFACES IN GOOD CONDITION: Sand any glossy areas by brush blasting (SSPCSP 7-63) and dust clean. SURFACES IN POOR CONDITION: If paint is old, loose, peeling or badly weathered, repair and clean surface by sanding, brush blasting (SSPC -SP 7-63) or other methods in orderto provide a sound surface. Apply a full coat of primer as recommended. Prime with Liquid Ceramic Brand Z Best™ AcrylicWhite Primer/Sealer.

Fiber Cement: Fiber cement siding and trim may present potential adhesion, alkali burn, and efflorescence problems. New board should be aged for at least thirty (30) days prior to priming and painting. All cracks and opens seams should be caulked to prevent water penetration. Pre-primed board from the manufacturer may not be uniformly or completely sealed. It is recommended that an alkali resistant primer be applied.

Tilt-Up or Pre-Cast Concrete: Allow new tilt-up or pre-cast concrete to cure for seven (7) days; preferably thirty (30) days prior to priming and painting. Moisture content should be less the 12% and the pH less than 13 before priming and painting. Bond breakers and other surface contaminants should be removed as directed by tilt-up manufacturer which can include mechanical methods, cleaners and pressure washing.

APPLICATION

Do Not Thin. Stir thoroughly before using. Apply at temperatures above 50°F. Do not paint in direct sun or on a hot surface. Use a good quality brush, a lambskin 1″ Nap Rough Surface Roller or airless spray equipment with a tip size of .026 to .035.lt is recommended to back roll when using airless sprayer to avoid pinholes. Coverage: Apply at a spread rate of 95-130 sq. ft. per gallon. Spread rate will vary depending on the surface roughness and porosity. Caution: Do not apply over heavy chalk or damp surface. Liquid Ceramic Exterior Wall Coat sets up quickly when applied attemperature above 80°F. Drying Time: To touch: one (1) hour at 77°F and 50% relative humidity. To recoat: five (5) hours. Clean Up: Use soap and water.

CAUTION

USE ONLY WITH ADEQUATE VENTILATION. Wear eye protection and protective clothing. For added protection use a NIOSH approved respirator. A dust mask does not provide protection against vapors. Contains acrylic resin. In case of eye contact, flush thoroughly with water. Do not rub eyes. In case of skin contact, flush area immediately with clean water. If swallowed, do not induce vomiting.

CONSULT A PHYSICIAN IMMEDIATELY. KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN.

WARNING! If you scrape, sand, or remove old paint, you may release lead dust. LEAD IS TOXIC. EXPOSURE TO LEAD DUST CAN CAUSE SERIOUS ILLNESS, SUCH AS BRAIN DAMAGE, ESPECIALLY IN CHILDREN.
