Paint is essentially a solid*
It's the part that stays on the building

Liquid Ceramic Liquid Ceramic® 5.0 Mils Dry Film Thickness (DFT)
after one coat that is applied correctly.

ONE COAT equals up to 4 Coats of some competitors!
Duration Sherwin-William's Duration® 2.0 Mils Dry Film Thickness (DFT)
Acri-Shield PPG PORTER® Acri-Shield® 1.4 Mils Dry Film Thickness (DFT)
Speed-Cote Glidden® Speed-Cote® 1.2 Mils Dry Film Thickness (DFT)

When asked "How important is the percent of solids by volume in an exterior paint or coating?" A technical staff member from the Rohm and Haas Paint Quality Institute gave us a great explanation and summarized it with this:

"Folks purchase paint by the gallon, and think of the price as $/gallon. But a better way might be to understand the price per solid (or "dry") gallon. In summary, dry film thickness is the key application variable, and volume solids is a main factor impacting dry film thickness."

As you can see in the graph above, with a good quality, exterior paint, 35% of it stays on the building. And with a superior quality paint, such as Sherwin-William's Duration®, 41% stays on the building. The rest floats away in the air. Compare those two paints to Liquid Ceramic® High Performance Exterior Architectural Coating. An amazing 61% stays on the building. This means with our low spread rate and high volume solids, it will take some paint products up to FOUR coats to equal the dry film thickness of one coat of Liquid Ceramic®.
